Our History
Founded by Randy DeBolt and Myron DeBolt, Superior Extrusion, Inc. started operations in Gwinn, Michigan on the grounds of the former KI Sawyer Air Force Base in 1998. The company started extruding aluminum with a 7″, 1,650-ton Farrel press line. This line set the conditions for the company’s initial success leading to the company’s first expansion in 2008 with the installation of a 9″, 2,500 Youngstown press.
SEI continued to gain a strong reputation in the US Market with a focus in the Midwest which enabled our first expansion in 2009. Continued success and increased market share led to our 2018 expansion where we introduced an Extral, 7″, 1,800-ton press with automated handling system. This new press allowed for increased opportunities for success and the decision to add a new press line in 2023. The installation of our new 9″, 3,300-ton, Extral press which included a 138,000 square foot expansion with increased capacity for our pack and ship services has been critical to meeting our customers’ demands and decreasing lead times. This expansion also allowed us to increase capacity and our capabilities to serve our diverse customer base as well as setting the conditions for successful future expansions for decades to come.
We produce the world’s finest solid, hollow, and semi-hollow shapes from primary and secondary 6000 series alloys in support of the automotive, marine, defense, architecture, transportation, and food service industries. We are positioned very well in our market to extrude the highest quality profiles that are on time, correct, and complete for our loyal customers. Our dedicated employees are the fabric of our company and without them we are left with only steel and concrete. Our company has been built on the dedication and strength of our employees, and we are ever grateful for their efforts.
